JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - During the weekend, the Mississippi State Department of Health recorded 6,912 more COVID-19 cases and 28 more deaths.
These numbers are from the three-day period of Aug. 6-8.
Thirteen deaths occurred between July 29 and Aug. 6 in Alcorn, Calhoun, Harrison (2), Jackson, Jones, Kemper, Lamar, Leake, Pearl River, Simpson, Tippah and Yalobusha counties.
The other 15 deaths occurred between Jan. 29 and Aug. 2, identified from death certificate reports, in Clay, Harrison, Hinds, Itawamba, Jones, Madison (2), Pearl River, Rankin (3), Simpson, Smith, Wayne and Winston counties.
Since the onset of the pandemic in Mississippi in March 2020, the MSDH has reported 365,061 total cases and 7,649 total deaths.
During the same time period, the MSDH also reported 320,771 recoveries.
