BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WTVA) — A hospital system in the Mobile area reported its first coronavirus case, and two more cases turned up in the Birmingham area putting Alabama's statewide total at nine.
WPMI-TV in Mobile reported Saturday one case was in Baldwin County and Infirmary Health said the patient is isolated at home.
On Saturday night, ABC 33/40 in Birmingham reported the health department in Jefferson County revealed an additional two cases.
The state on Friday reported six cases: two in the Montgomery area, one in the Birmingham area, one in the Tuscaloosa area, one near Huntsville and one listed by the agency as "out of state."
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey ordered the state's public schools to close for two and a half weeks because of the virus.
