BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WTVA) - A police officer was shot and the shooter is dead, according to Birmingham Police.
The officer-involved shooting happened Friday morning.
The wounded officer has non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.
According to ABC 3340 in Birmingham, a customer caused a disturbance at a café in north Birmingham.
When a police officer approached the customer, the customer opened fire on the officer.
During an exchange of gunfire, both the officer and the suspect were hit, according to the TV station.
