SARALAND, Ala. (AP) — The Latest on the arrest of a black woman at a Waffle House in Alabama (all times local):

4:55 p.m.

Alabama police say officers followed protocol when arresting a woman at a Waffle House.

A video shows three white officers arresting Chikesia Clemons, a black woman, early Sunday in Saraland.

It shows three white male officers arguing with Clemons before throwing her to the ground and arresting her. At a news conference Monday, police said three were required because she was resisting arrest.

In the video, one officer is heard telling Clemons he is going to break her arm. Police say this statement was not made as a threat, but a warning that if she continued to resist, he could hurt her.

Waffle House employees initially made the police call when Clemons and two others came into the restaurant appearing intoxicated.

Clemons is charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Georgia-based Waffle House Inc. says police intervention was appropriate at an Alabama restaurant where the weekend arrest of a black woman is raising questions.

The NAACP calls the arrest troubling, and pickets with signs stood outside the restaurant near Mobile in Saraland.

A statement released Monday by Waffle House spokesman Greg Rollings says it appears police involvement was appropriate, based on security video and witness accounts.

The statement says the company has information that differs "significantly" from claims by the woman who was arrested Sunday.

Video posted online shows officers arguing with a woman and then wrestling her to the floor as diners look on. Mobile-area media quote witnesses as saying the woman objected to being charged for plastic eating utensils.

An Alabama police department says it's investigating after video showed a black woman being knocked down by police and arrested inside a restaurant.

The NAACP is calling the arrest troubling, and pickets stood outside the restaurant with signs.

A statement from the Saraland Police Department says the city's public safety director and mayor are aware of the arrest and video, which gained traction on social media following a confrontation inside a Waffle House restaurant on Sunday.

Video posted online shows officers arguing with a woman and then wrestling her to the floor as diners look on. Three officers are visible in the video.

It's unclear from the video what caused the dispute, but Mobile-area media quote witnesses as saying the woman objected to being charged for plastic eating utensils.
