JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say a 6-year-old girl who was on a trip to visit the Jackson Zoo was shot along with her mother in a hotel room.
The Clarion Ledger reports it happened early Sunday morning in Jackson.
Police say it was caused by a domestic dispute between the girl's mother and a man who accompanied them on the trip.
The three had traveled together from north Mississippi to Jackson for the zoo visit.
The child's mother, Marlanque Braggs, was shot in the shoulder.
Police say 26-year-old Myles Perkins killed himself with a gunshot to the head after shooting Braggs and her daughter.
