JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann announced his three appointments to the commission tasked with recommending a new state flag.
He appointed:
- Former Justice Reuben Anderson of Jackson
- Attorney J. Mack Varner of Vicksburg
- Sherri Carr Bevis, a former public school teacher, of Gulfport.
Gov. Tate Reeves, House Speaker Philip Gunn, and Hosemann are to appoint three members each to a nine-member flag commission.
Gunn announced his three appointees Wednesday morning.

The flag commission will recommend a new state flag. Mississippians will either approve or vote against the recommended flag in November.
The commission is to make its selection by Sept. 14. Designs must include the words “In God We Trust."
