GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — A man has died after being shot by police in south Mississippi.
The shooting happened Thursday outside a discount store in Gulfport.
Officers were called about a homeless man allegedly abusing a dog.

The man, Henry Frankowski III, died hours later at a hospital.
His body was taken to the state Crime Lab for an autopsy.
The officers were not injured. They were put on paid administrative leave.
The man shot was white, as are the officers.
