BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — A man accused of killing an Alabama man and setting him on fire to destroy evidence has been arrested.
Al.com reports 37-year-old Rajuar Akeil Key was booked into jail Monday and charged with murder in the February slaying of 29-year-old Monty Lewayne Davis. Authorities responding to a report of a brush fire near a Jefferson County road found Davis' remains.
County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Randy Christian says Davis went to Key's home in Birmingham on the night he was killed. He says Key accused Davis of stealing his marijuana, and the two fought before Key pulled out a gun and shot Davis. He says Key dumped Davis' body and set it on fire to destroy evidence and prevent Davis' identification.
It's unclear if Key has a lawyer.
