JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 958 new COVID-19 cases and 8 new deaths Thursday, Oct. 22.
MSDH updates its case totals each morning based on test results from the previous day.

New COVID-19 related deaths reported to MSDH as of 6 p.m. Wednesday. Eight deaths occurred between October 18 and October 21 in the counties below.

As of Thursday, Oct. 22, there have been 113,081 total cases of the virus since mid-March, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 3,231 total deaths.
The state health department estimates there have been 97,675 recoveries.
