MSDH reports 749 new coronavirus cases, 18 new deaths Friday

JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) — The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 749 new coronavirus cases and 18 new deaths Friday.

MSDH updates its case totals each day based on test results from the previous day.

The new coronavirus deaths locally include one each in Chickasaw, Grenada, Itawamba, Marshall, Monroe, Tippah and Oktibbeha counties.

As of Friday, the state had 119,336 cases of coronavirus since the pandemic started in March and 3,328 deaths.

The state's health agency also estimated 101,385 people in the Magnolia State recovered from the virus. That figure is based on a formula provided by the federal government.
