JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 722 new COVID-19 cases and 20 new deaths Friday, Sept. 25.
MSDH updates its case totals each morning based on test results from the previous day.

New COVID-19-related deaths reported to MSDH as of 6 p.m. Thursday:

- Walthall - 1
Seven COVID-19 related death occurred between September 11 and September 24, identified from death certificate reports.

As of Friday, Sept. 25, there have been 96,032 total cases of the virus since mid-March, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 2,894 total deaths.
The state health department estimates there have been 85,327 recoveries. The MSDH usually updates its estimated recoveries total once a week.
