JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 465 new COVID-19 cases and 36 new deaths Tuesday, Sept 22.
MSDH updates its case totals each morning based on test results from the previous day.

Nine COVID-19 related deaths occurred between August 29 and September 5, identified from death certificate reports.

As of Tuesday, Sept. 22, there have been 94,021 total cases of the virus since mid-March, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 2,846 total deaths.
The state health department estimates there have been 85,327 recoveries. The MSDH usually updates its estimated recoveries total once a week.
