JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The state health department reported 418 new cases of the coronavirus and 17 new deaths Friday, May 29.
The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) updates its case totals each morning based on test results from the previous day.

New coronavirus-related deaths reported to MSDH as of 6 p.m. Thursday:
- Hinds - 1
- Jefferson - 1
- Jones - 3
- Lauderdale - 1
- Lee 1
- Lincoln - 3
- Madison - 1
- Scott - 1
- Warren - 1
Four confirmed coronavirus-related deaths between May 11 and May 15 were identified through death certificate reports. The additional deaths are reported in the following counties:
- Covington - 1
- Desoto - 1
- Neshoba - 1
- Rankin - 1
As of Friday, May 29, MSDH estimates 9,401 people have recovered from the virus.
Since mid-March, when the state reported its first case of the virus, MSDH has reported 14,790 total cases and 710 total deaths.
