JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 1,804 new COVID-19 cases and 28 new deaths Thursday, Jan. 28.
New COVID-19 related deaths reported to MSDH as of 6 p.m. Wednesday. Twenty-four deaths occurred between Dec. 6, 2020, and Jan. 27, 2021, in the counties below.

As of Thursday, Jan. 28, there have been 270,476 total cases of the virus since mid-March 2020, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 5,945 total deaths.
The state health department estimates there have been 222,812 recoveries.
