JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 1,616 new COVID-19 cases and 13 new deaths Monday, Jan. 4.
New COVID-19 related deaths reported to MSDH as of 6 p.m. Sunday. Three deaths occurred between Dec. 30, 2020, and Jan. 2, 2021, in the counties below.

Ten COVID-19 related deaths occurred between Dec. 6 and Dec. 28, identified from death certificate reports.

- Grenada 1
- Hinds 1
- Lee 2
- Simpson 1
- Tippah 1
- Union 1
- Winston 1
As of Monday, Jan. 4, there have been 223,677 total cases of the virus since mid-March, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 4,884 total deaths.
The state health department estimates there have been 182,103 recoveries.
