The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 1,612 new COVID-19 cases and 8 new deaths Thursday, Nov. 5.

JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 1,612 new COVID-19 cases and 8 new deaths Thursday, Nov. 5.

New COVID-19 related deaths reported to MSDH as of 6 p.m. Wednesday. Eight deaths occurred between November 1 and November 4 in the counties below.

Alcorn - 1
Grenada - 1
Hancock - 1
Pearl River - 1
Washington - 2
Yalobusha - 1

As of Thursday, Nov. 5, there have been 123,887 total cases of the virus since mid-March, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 3,405 total deaths.

The state health department estimates there have been 105,839 recoveries.
