JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 1,168 new COVID-19 cases and 52 new deaths Friday, July 31.
MSDH updates its case totals each morning based on test results from the previous day.

As of Friday, July 31, there have been 58,747 total cases of the virus since mid-March, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 1,663 total deaths.
The state health department estimates there have been 35,071 recoveries.
