JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - State troopers reported seven deaths during the 2020 Labor Day weekend.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) began its holiday enforcement period on Friday and concluded Labor Day.
During the holiday period, MHP issued 9,426 citations, made 184 DUI arrests, issued 519 seatbelt citations and 110 child restraint citations.
MHP investigated 121 crashes and reported 47 injuries and seven deaths.
According to MHP, the seven fatal wrecks happened in Kemper, Alcorn, Humphreys, Carroll, Lawrence, Marshall and Perry counties.
During 2019’s Labor Day enforcement period, MHP investigated 131 crashes, including three fatalities, and troopers made 216 DUI arrests.
