TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Tuesday marked the first day healthcare workers could receive the COVID-19 vaccine via drive-thrus in Lee and Lowndes counties.
Throughout the week, the Mississippi State Department of Health and the University of Mississippi Medical Center are providing vaccinations to healthcare workers throughout the state via drive-thru sites.

“It was the least painful vaccine I think I've ever had,” Thomas Carroll of Amory said.
Carroll received the Moderna vaccine Tuesday morning.
He said the sign-up process was very easy.
“I was third in line this morning.”
After receiving the vaccination, he waited 15 minutes to make sure no side effects appeared.
Tuesday’s dose was the first of two doses required. He’ll return in 28 days to receive the second and final dose.
