JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - Mississippi’s state health officer urges Mississippians to avoid all social gatherings, such as parties and sporting events, until further notice.
On Wednesday, the Mississippi State Department of Health reported more than 2,400 new COVID-19 cases.

In response to the data, Dr. Thomas Dobbs went to social media urging Mississippians to "pay attention."

MSDH strongly recommends that EVERYONE avoid all social gatherings until further notice, such as:
- Parties
- Funerals
- Family Gatherings
- Weddings
- Sporting Events
