BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Police in south Florida have arrested two people charged with capital murder in the slayings of a couple found dead in their home in Birmingham.
Police say 23-year-old Zachary Taylor Phillips of Arab (AY-rab) and 30-year-old Kristen Leigh Gullion of Cullman are accused in the killings of 68-year-old Joe Holt and 67-year-old Mary Holt.
The grandparents were found dead in the home Aug. 2 after police were called about a child wandering in the street.
Authorities say Gullion was arrested a week later in Miami Beach, Florida, while driving a car belonging to the victims. Phillips was arrested later in Hollywood, Florida.
News outlets report the two briefly lived across the street from the Holts.
Court records aren't available to show whether either Phillips or Gullion has a lawyer.
