WASHINGTON (WTVA) - On Monday the federal government released results from the 2020 Census.
- Alabama’s population equaled 5,024,279.
- Mississippi’s population equaled 2,961,279.
Compared to the 2010 Census, Alabama's population increased by 5.1%. Mississippi's population decreased by 0.2%.
The population of each state also determines the number of Congressmen each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Neither Alabama (7 seats) nor Mississippi (4 seats) gained or lost seats as a result of the 2020 Census.
