Alabama issues State of Emergency following storms

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has issued a State of Emergency following Monday's storms that hit the South.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WTVA) - Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has issued a State of Emergency following Monday's storms that hit the South.

The State of Alabama says the following counties were affected by Monday's storms: Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Etowah, Fayette, Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Lamar, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Morgan, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Walker and Winston.

The executive order went into effect Tuesday at 8 a.m.

Gov. Ivey says she has also ordered the Adjutant General to activate the Alabama National Guard as needed.
