PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) — Three suspects in the death of a man found floating in a southeast Mississippi river have had their charges upgraded to capital murder.
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell says 27-year-old Zachary Cooper, 36-year-old Jason Lee Miller and 23-year-old Taylor Allan Carpenter had their charges upgraded Tuesday from accessory after the fact to capital murder in the death of 29-year-old Dustin Lee Settles.
He was found in the Pascagoula River on Sept. 22.
Officials say an additional man, 33-year-old Joseph Paul McLeod, was arrested Sept. 24 on unrelated charges, and a capital murder charge was soon added.
It's unclear whether the suspects have attorneys who can comment for them.
