Tony Hughes returns to MSU as assistant football coach

Moorhead and the university’s athletic department made the announcement today, December 12.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Former Mississippi State assistant football coach Tony Hughes is returning to Starkville to be a part of Joe Moorhead’s coaching staff.

Moorhead and the university’s athletic department made the announcement today, December 12.

He returns to MSU after spending a few years as the head football coach at Jackson State University.

This is his second stint with the Bulldogs. He spent seven seasons from 2009-2015 coaching safeties and as a recruiting coordinator.

He also served as assistant head coach for three of those seasons beginning in the spring of 2013.
