BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - For the first time since January 2012, the Northeast Mississippi Community College men's basketball team is in the NJCAA rankings.

The Tigers (8-2) are No. 21 in this week's poll.

"Great honor," said Northeast head coach Cord Wright. "Obviously, it's early in the season, so any time you can get some things like that going in the right direction, it's a positive deal for your school, the players, the program, everything, so, we're excited.

"It's all about what you do after that....but, any time you can get some recognition on a national level, it's exciting."

Northeast visits Lawson State on Thursday night.
