STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - The debate rages on, who was 'thunder,' and who was 'lightning.'
Mississippi State baseball's dynamic duo, Rafael Palmeiro and Will Clark, helped put Bulldog baseball on the map in the mid 80s before embarking on successful professional careers.
Clark and Palmeiro earned the nicknames 'thunder and lightning' while slugging for Ron Polk's Bulldogs.
On Friday, 'thunder and lightning' were immortalized with giant bronze statues outside the home plate entrance at Polk-Dement Stadium.
Clark and Palmeiro both attended a brief unveiling ceremony, and both credited their time at MSU as high points in the respective baseball careers.
