STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (WTVA) - The NFL Draft begins Thursday night in Nashville.
Montez Sweat, a projected first-round draft pick, was scheduled to be at the draft.
On Saturday, the former Mississippi State defensive lineman reversed course and told ESPN he will instead watch the draft from his home in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
In a statement, Sweat told ESPN's Adam Schefter, 'My devoted grandparents and a host of other family memebers helped me to get to this point in my life, and I wanted to celebrate this special day with my family, so we all chose to do so where it all started for me, Stone Mountain, Georgia.'
There have been reports that Sweat is falling down some teams' draft boards because of his pre-existing heart condition that was brought to light at the NFL Combine in March.
Sweat never mentioned a fear of slipping picks as a reason for opting out of the draft.
