SHANNON, Miss. (WTVA) - Shannon head football coach Darryl Carter says Shannon will start at quarterback for the Red Raiders this season - as in Keith Shannon, who played receiver last year.
Carter, who's entering his seventh season, says Shannon is no stranger to quarterback, having played the position for the junior varsity.
The Red Raiders have seventeen seniors on the roster and eleven returning starters.
Shannon plays in the Louisville Jamboree before opening its season with Corinth.
"Since I've been here, and how I grew up down south, our coach always gave us the best," Carter said. "It helped us, we won a lot of games coming up.
"That's the thing I try to do here, just prepare the guys the best way we can, and I'm not shortchanging anybody, but I want to play the best teams that are out there, and give my guys the best chance, and then, by the time we hit division time, we're rolling."
"To have a good season this year, we've just gotta be consistent and do work, and work hard," said cornerback Taylon Doss. "The summer program gets you better. It teaches you a lot of things, it gets you stronger, it gets you ready for the season."
