BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. (WTVA) - Blue Mountain College’s (BMC) head women’s soccer coach Matthew Reeder has stepped down, the college announced Friday.
The college hired Reeder in May 2020 to lead the inaugural women’s program scheduled to begin in 2021.
According to BMC, he currently coaches at Saltillo High School and based his decision on his commitment to his family.
“It has been a wild eight months full of excitement, worry and recruiting, but at this time in my family’s life, it is something that I simply cannot do,” Reeder stated. “It was once a dream of mine, but dreams change, and I want to make sure I am first and foremost a good husband and dad for my children. I wish Blue Mountain College the very best and nothing but success to both the men’s and women’s soccer programs.”
Director of Athletics Will Lowrey said he’ll conduct an immediate search to fill the position.
