OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA/Ole Miss Athletics) – On Wednesday, Ole Miss landed two players on the Preseason All-SEC Softball team in outfielders Kylan Becker and Elantra Cox, as voted by the league head coaches.
The pair become the first players in the 22-year history of Rebel softball to receive the honor. In all, 17 players were named to the Preseason All-SEC team, with Becker and Cox making up one-third of the six outfield selections.

The Rebels’ two honorees are tied for the second most in the conference, along with Auburn, Georgia and Texas A&M. Preseason favorite Florida leads all schools with five players named to the preseason all-conference squad.
Becker returns for her junior season after becoming the first Rebel ever to garner First Team All-SEC laurels in 2017. The Miami native posted a .375 batting average on 75 hits, the second highest single-season total in program-history. Batting all 63 games from the No. 2 spot in the order, Becker scored 34 runs on the year, while driving in 31 more.
Cox enters her final season in Oxford coming off of a season in which she led the SEC with a program-record 93 hits. The speedy centerfielder also broke the single-season school-record for runs scored (51), while ranking second all-time in batting average (.429). The Henderson, Tennessee native is just seven hits shy of breaking the Ole Miss career record with 216 base knocks.
The Preseason All-SEC Softball Team is voted on by the league’s head coaches and consists of a minimum of 14 players. Each SEC head coach voted for five infielders, four outfielders, three pitchers, one catcher and one designated player/utility. No ties were broken.
