OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) — Ole Miss announced Sunday night head baseball coach Mike Bianco would stay with the university after there was speculation he could leave for the open baseball job at LSU.
Athletics director Keith Carter said in a statement Bianco got a four-year contract extension to stay with the Rebels.
"We understand that the consistent success of our program will generate interest from other schools, and with any coach, there can be personal factors that come into play," said Carter.
Bianco and his wife have ties to Baton Rouge. Their son also plays baseball for LSU.
However, the coach made it clear he's not leaving.
“Ole Miss is home for me and my family, and I am committed to bringing championships to Oxford," said Bianco. "I’m proud of what we have accomplished over the past 21 years, and I look forward to building on that foundation and achieving new levels of success."
