OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - An Ole Miss golfer, heralded as one of the sport's rising stars, will be joining the field of players for the inaugural North Mississippi Classic.
Braden Thornberry will participate in the Web.com Tour tournament, scheduled for April 16-22 at The Country Club of Oxford.
Thornberry is a native of Olive Branch. He is the 2017 NCAA Champion and the 2017 Haskins Award winner with nine tournament victories, the most in Ole Miss history.
"I know that Braden is eager to tee it up against some of the best players in the world in front of a hometown crowd," stated Ole Miss Head Golf Coach Chris Malloy.
As of Tuesday, the field of 156 players includes past PGA TOUR players Stuart Appleby, Brendon de Jonge, Mark Wilson, Charlie Beljan, Spencer Levin, Jason Gore, Dicky Pride, Ken Duke, Frank Lickliter II, Will MacKenzie, Willy Wilcox, and 2003 PGA Championship champion Shaun Micheel.
