BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Ole Miss Athletics/WTVA) - For the second time this season, Ole Miss women's basketball redshirt freshman Mimi Reid has been named the SEC Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday morning.
Reid started in both games for the Rebels last week vs. Louisiana and LA Tech, averaging 10.5 points and 8.5 assists over 37 minutes per game.
Reid put together the best game of her career in a Wednesday morning 79-57 victory against Louisiana. In front of a season-high 7,389 fans at The Pavilion at Ole Miss, Reid recorded her first double-double and put up career-highs in both points (14) and assists (11).
The Bronx, N.Y., native missed all of the 2017-18 season due to injury but has quickly become a staple in the Rebel offense. Reid has started 10 games this season and leads the team in assists (5.6) while ranking second in minutes (32.4) and fourth in rebounds (4.7).
Reid has been one of the most effective pass-first point guards in the SEC this season, ranking second in assists (5.6/game). At the national level, she ranks second for freshmen and 33rd overall with 56 total assists. She is the only player in the SEC this year to have separate games with at least 11 rebounds and 11 assists.
The Rebels return home this Wednesday (Dec. 19) to host Troy for the final game before the holiday break. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT inside The Pavilion at Ole Miss.
