OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) — Ole Miss announced Thursday it will play Alcorn State in football during the 2028 season.
It's set for September 9 of that year, and it will be the first time the Rebels take on a historically black college and university in football.

“To play an HBCU from our state is something we’ve been wanting to do for quite some time, and hopefully this will open the door for other meetings with HBCU institutions in the future," said Ole Miss athletics director Keith Carter in a statement.
Carter and Alcorn State athletics director Derek Horne are friends. They both played basketball for Ole Miss and worked in the university's athletic department.
