NEW HOPE, Miss. (WTVA) - New Hope High School has hired Wade Tackett as its new head football coach.
Tackett spent last season as the head coach at Hollandale Simmons, which has won three consecutive Class 1A state championships. The Blue Devils went 15-0 in Tackett's only year at the helm.
The news was first reported by the Delta Democrat Times.
Tackett takes over for Kris Pickle, who recently stepped down after four seasons.
"It was a tough decision," Tackett told Delta News. "It's a bigger school, a bigger program, but also, we have family in the area, and that was the main tie for me and my family."
Tackett came to Simmons after serving as the offensive coordinator at Grenada. He has also been on staffs at Northeast Lauderdale and Greenwood.
