Mississippi State wins inaugural eSports Egg Bowl

The Bulldogs clinched the trophy with a win in Rainbow Six Siege.

OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - The Egg Bowl won't be played until November 22.

On Saturday, gamers from Mississippi State and Ole Miss competed for the first eSports Egg Bowl.

The Pavilion at Ole Miss hosted the inaugural eSports Egg Bowl.

The schools competed against each other in seven different video games.  The first team to reach four wins earned the championship.  MSU secured victory with a win in Rainbow Six Siege.

The Bulldogs eSports team earned a trophy for their efforts.  Both the MSU and Ole Miss eSports teams are school sanctioned clubs. 

The second eSports Egg Bowl is scheduled to take place in Starkville in 2019.
