STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA/MSU Athletics) - After giving top-ranked Alabama its toughest test of the season, Mississippi State football remained in the Top 20 of the national polls that were released Sunday.

The Bulldogs moved up one spot to No. 17 in the Associated Press Top 25, and they sit at No. 19 in the USA Today Amway Coaches poll. MSU (7-3, 3-3 SEC) is the highest ranked three-loss team in the nation and the fourth-highest ranked Southeastern Conference team behind No. 1 Alabama, No. 6 Auburn and No. 7 Georgia – all three of which were Bulldog opponents.

State is the only team in the nation to have played three of the top seven ranked teams in America. The third edition of the College Football Playoff rankings will be announced at 8 p.m. CT Tuesday on ESPN. It’s the third straight week that MSU is in the Top 20 of the rankings, its longest Top 20 streak since 2014.

The Bulldogs play their final road game of the year when they travel to Fayetteville to face Arkansas at 11 a.m. CT Saturday on CBS. It will be MSU’s first CBS appearance since Nov. 14, 2015 against Alabama. The Razorbacks are 4-6 overall, 1-5 in league play and lost at LSU, 33-10, on Saturday.
