MSU sweeps Friday doubleheader from Maine

The Diamond Dogs are now 14-1.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Mississippi State received a pair of solid pitching performances to sweep a Friday doubleheader from Maine, 9-2 in Game 1 and 5-1 in Game 2.

In the first game, Ethan Small struck out 10 over six innings, allowing just three hits and two walks.

Small picked up his first win of the season and got all the support he needed when MSU scored four runs in the fifth inning, including a three-run home run from Jordan Westburg.

In the second game, J.T. Ginn struck out eight over six innings, scattering six hits and allowing no walks.

The Diamond Dogs (14-1) scored three runs in the second inning, including a two-run homer from Dustin Skelton.
Maine dropped to 0-12 after the doubleheader sweep.
MSU and Maine conclude their series on Sunday at noon.
