STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- The energy was high and the rivalry even high as the rebels and the bulldogs battled it out to see who had the best college gamers in the state but not just anybody with a computer and a keyboard can be on the team.
The teams are usually set up through tryouts.
Just like football or any other game you just try out and whoever is good enough makes the team.
Building a team for ESports is not much different from building a talented football team and it doesn't happen overnight
"It takes three, four months to even be comfortable playing with each other," said gamer Chandler Cochran.
The competition was hosted at the Humphreys Coliseum and consisted of multiple games.
Teams even used warm-up computers to get ready for their match.
One of those games included Rocket League.
The objective is to use a car like the one you see here to try and push the giant ball into the goal.
It's like soccer but with a car the can drive on walls.
Chandler Cochran says that having supporters means a lot due to the popularity level of the ESports.
"ESports isn't popular especially around here yet so to go out and do that and represent ole miss, they were pretty excited about it," said Cochran
He says no matter how you do it it's always important to find something worth competing for.
