BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Junior College coaches at Northeast Mississippi Community College and Itawamba Community Colleges talked on Friday about how the coronavirus outbreak has effected their teams.
"The thing is, when i woke up and they told us yesterday," said NEMCC baseball coach Rich Harrelson. "I just hope we get to finish out season."
Harrelson said that virus has stopped all university and NJCAA activities until March 30.
"It is uncharted territory it is somewhere we have never been," said Harrelson. "I don't know of anything like this that has happened in the world over the last 500 years."
Coaches like ICC's softball coach Andy Kirk are curious about if they will return.
"We are just really right now having a mix of emotions, we are just hoping that we still get to play and carry on," said Kirk.
But Kirk and Harrelson are both realizing that timetable may be pushed back.
"As far as the sports world I never thought this would happen, this is unprecedented to see how this has effected sports as it has," said Kirk.
