HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WTVA) - Southern Miss has hired Jay Ladner as its new men's head basketball coach, the school announced Wednesday night.
Ladner, a Hattiesburg native, spent the last five seasons as the head coach at Southeastern Louisiana. He also led Jones County Junior College to the NJCAA national championship in 2014 and St. Stanislaus to the 2011 Class 4A state championship.
Ladner, a Southern Miss graduate, also played on the school's NIT championship team in 1987.
Ladner takes over for Doc Sadler, who stepped down after five seasons.
