OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA/Ole Miss Athletics) – The Ole Miss men's basketball team improved its frontcourt Wednesday as 6-foot-10 forward Khadim Sy signed his National Letter of Intent to join the Rebels for the upcoming 2019-2020 season. After beginning his collegiate career at Virginia Tech and spending last season at junior college Daytona State, Sy will have two years of eligibility remaining when he arrives on campus this fall.

"We are very excited to welcome Khadim to the Ole Miss Basketball family. 'Dream' has outstanding size and versatility – combine that with really good power around the rim, a great skill set shooting the ball around the perimeter and play-making ability facing the goal," head coach Kermit Davis said. "Playing in a storied high school program at Oak Hill for Steve Smith, starting 28 games at Virginia Tech as a freshman and playing for another excellent coach in Brock Morris at Daytona State all lead to a very experienced and well-coached player."

A 4-star forward according to Rivals.com, Sy earned National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American Honorable Mention accolades by averaging 16.8 ppg and 9.8 rpg this past season. Nearly averaging a double-double for the Falcons, Sy's 9.8 rebounds per game led the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA). The Dakar, Senegal, native scored at least 20 points 10 different times throughout the season, including a high of 28 against Snead State Community College. He shot 55.1 percent from the field, while showing he can stretch the floor by making 32.0 percent of his three-point attempts.

Sy joins fellow Daytona State teammate Bryce Williams in Oxford. Williams, who averaged 15.3 ppg last season, signed with Ole Miss in November.

"We are looking forward to getting 'Dream' and the rest of our class here this summer," Davis said.

Before making the transition to junior college, Sy played in 32 games as a freshman at Virginia Tech. Making 28 starts for the Hokies, he shot 56.7 percent from the floor and averaged 4.0 ppg. Sy also recorded 20 blocks throughout the 2016-17 campaign.

In high school, Sy was three-year letterwinner at perennial powerhouse Oak Hill Academy. He averaged 9.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots per game as a senior. With Sy's help, Oak Hill went 42-1 during his senior season and won the DICK'S Nationals in Madison Square Garden, beating La Lumiere of Indiana 62-60 in overtime. Sy won the game with a tip-in at the buzzer.
