TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Tre Hall is a junior running back for Tupelo High School.

On Sept. 6 in a football game, he and his family's lives took a turn for the worse.

"Would I make it?"

That's what Trevion Hall asked God.

"My baby was not even breathing on his own; that machine was breathing for him, and it was just like he was fighting for his life," his mother Latonya Hall said.

On the kickoff, Hall went down and was not able to get up on his own. Emergency crews took the field and transported him to the hospital in Tupelo.

"The first 12 hours or so, from the injury to surgery, was just a football broken leg," his coach Trent Hammond said.

Happy to hear that his leg was successfully repaired, his mother prepared to see him.

Soon after, the doctor informed them that his lung collapsed following surgery.

Hall was on 100 percent oxygen, his mother said.

"When they told me that, I just completely just shut down and started hollering and screaming," she said.

Emergency responders airlifted Hall to the UAB hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

"I was just praying. I was very emotional," the young man said.

Classmates, teammates and many people across the state held prayer meetings and showed support through social media hoping so see Hall return to the field for his senior year.

"People I didn't even know, but they were there and I was thankful," Latonya Hall said.

After spending two weeks in the hospital, Hall was finally released.

Currently, his lung is functioning normally, and he is in rehab three times a week for his leg in hopes of being ready at the start of his senior football season.

"I'm very eager to get back out on the field," Hall said.

"That speaks a lot in my mind, just for the kind of guy that he is," Hammond said. "That he's not giving up and saying, 'I will be back and I will do what it takes to get there.'"
