FRENCH CAMP, Miss. (WTVA) -- One of the most dynamic players in the state of Mississippi signed with Northwestern. CJ Johnson originally committed to Navy because the midshipmen were the only Division-1 school to offer him prior to the season and he said he didn't know if they were even going to have a season.
Then Johnson did some serious talking on the field, 2200 all-purpose yards, 12 passing touchdowns, 23 rushing touchdowns, and other D-1 programs took notice including Duke, Mississippi State, Penn State, TCU and Vanderbilt. An experience johnson said was validating.
"I had really been working hard but wasn't get as much attention but I knew just to stay faithful , keep working and it'll all come eventually," Johnson said.
Now Johnson is heading from the small town of French Camp to the Windy City of Chicago.
"I've been in French Camp my whole life, I love it here," Johnson said. "You know it's a chance just to grow as a person and get a different environment, new challenges, new struggles you know to become a better person."
