TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - The 2019 NFL Draft concluded Saturday with rounds 4-7. A former area high school football standout received his life changing phone call.
Former North Pontotoc Viking Marcus Green was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the sixth round. Green hosted a draft party Saturday evening at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Tupelo.
When Green signed with ULM in 2014, he was the first Viking to sign a D1 football letter of intent. On Saturday, Green became the first Viking drafted into the NFL.
Green is a versatile player who will likely start on special teams, but don't be surprised if the Falcons utilize his speed elsewhere.
"It's just a blessing to get that call (from the Falcons)," said Green. "I've been waiting on that my whole life, and it's just a blessing."
