SCOOBA, Miss. (WTVA/EMCC Athletics) – East Mississippi Community College sophomore quarterback Connor Neville has been named MACJC Offensive Player of the Week for his passing efforts during the Lions’ 49-15 home victory over Pearl River a week ago.
A transfer from Washington State University, Neville completed 24-of-42 passes for 358 yards and four touchdowns (1 INT) through the air against the Wildcats in helping lead the Lions to their 34th consecutive home win dating back to the start of the 2013 season. The Beaverton, Oregon native connected with eight different EMCC receivers on the night, including an 87-yard toss to West Point’s Jason Brownlee. Neville’s four touchdown passes against PRCC all went to different receivers.
On the season, Neville is currently ranked fourth nationally with an average of 316.5 passing yards through EMCC’s first two games. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Neville has connected on 60.5 percent (52-of-86) of his passes for 633 total yards on the young season.
Neville joins Copiah-Lincoln linebacker Tyrus Wheat and East Central kicker/punter Robens Beauplan as the MACJC’s Week 2 recipients and will now be nominated for NJCAA Player of the Week football honors.
