CALHOUN CITY, Miss. (WTVA) - The Calhoun City High School football team is scheduled to host a football scrimmage Friday night against rival Vardaman.
Compared to previous non-pandemic years, fewer spectators will be allowed inside the football stadium Friday.
On Aug. 14, Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves announced an attendance cap on K-12 extracurricular activities, such as football.
No more than two spectators per participant will be allowed.
"We're going to issue out two tickets per participant,” Calhoun City head football coach M.D. Jennings said.
For the Vardaman scrimmage, the school allowed participants to buy their tickets Thursday.
Leftover tickets will be made available to the public Friday on a first-come-first-served basis.
The governor's executive order is scheduled to expire on Monday, Aug. 31 at 8 a.m.
Jennings hopes more people will be allowed in the future.
The school will announce the total number of leftover tickets on its social media accounts.
Spectators are to wear face coverings and social distance.
Children will not be allowed to roam during the game Friday.
