Adkins named Starkville High baseball coach

He was an assistant at Houston the last couple of seasons.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Luke Adkins was introduced as Starkville High School's new head baseball coach on Friday.

Adkins has been an assistant at Houston High School the last couple of seasons.

Adkins played high school baseball at Nettleton. He began his college career at Southern Miss before transferring to Mississippi State.

"It's an honor to join this community, and I think that's what really kind of helped seal the deal for me getting the job," Adkins said. "I think I was really able to convey how high of importance that is to me."

Adkins takes over for Travis Garner, who left after five seasons for the same position at Caledonia.
