OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - Fifteen Ole Miss student-athletes and one employee tested positive for the coronavirus, the university confirmed Wednesday.
According to the university, this constitutes as an outbreak of cases on campus per state health department guidelines.
Ole Miss says these 16 individuals were tested earlier in the week as part of a mass screening for student-athletes returning to campus.
They were instructed to quarantine until the university received the test results.
Eleven of the 15 student-athletes are members of the same team. However, Ole Miss didn’t specify which team.
According to the university, these 16 individuals have been isolated, and Ole Miss and the state department of health have conducted contact tracing.
